You are loved by God, and there is a place for you in his family. In fact, he is waiting to welcome you with open arms. Here's the good news, you don't have to do anything to earn God's love or grace. It's just a matter of believing in Jesus and receiving the free gift of salvation. It's the most important decision you'll ever make!

You can begin again by saying a simple prayer like this:

 Heavenly Father, I thank you for sending Jesus. Jesus I ask you to come into my heart. Forgive me of all my sins. I put my trust in you. And I choose to live for you, by the power you supply, for your glory, amen.

Top Ten helpful things you need to know, now that you are— trusting Christ with your life

  • Your decision sets you right with God! Christ did for us, what we could never do for ourselves. He paid the sin debt (Romans 5:8) and we are spiritually washed clean (Isaiah 1:18). Our sins are never remembered again (Psalm 103:12).

  • Your basic identity is now as a follower of Jesus, and you are not only forgiven – you are given everlasting life (John 3:16). You did not earn it. You cannot lose it. It’s a gift (Ephesians 2:8-9). Everything about your life is totally new (II Corinthians 5:17)!

  • Baptism is an outward expression of an inward work. Going public is not only Biblically proscribed and personally meaningful (Acts 2:38), it’s also an encouragement to those who have been part of your journey.

  • God’s intent is that we would live purposefully. His Word gives us a reliable picture of who he is and what he values. By becoming familiar with him and his ways, our heart and mind will be transformed (Romans 12:2). Here is a great Bible study that you can start right now.

  • Communication is key in every relationship. Prayer is how we communicate with God. Your concerns matter to him (I Peter 5:7). So, instead of worrying, fretting, losing sleep – talk to God about everything (Philippians 4:6)

  • God’s presence is made real to us in the context of praise (Psalm 22:3). Developing a personal praise/worship set-list allows us to creatively include uplifting music in our everyday lives.

  • Get in the habit of noticing and expressing thanks for God’s faithfulness. A practice many have found helpful is to begin each day journaling three points of gratitude. (Psalm 103:2). Do you have a notebook that you can use before going to bed every night to reflect on your day?

  • Every Christian is entrusted with a certain amount of time, talent and treasure (I Peter 4:10). We honor God best by using these resources to make a positive difference in the world by generously serving and giving. Shoreline offers a class called Dive In online and in-person to help you discover how to get started.

  • The Spirit of God now lives in you (Galatians 5:22). But that doesn’t mean you have to figure it all out on your own. We joyfully worship together as a congregation (Hebrews 10:25) and gather for friendship and support in smaller groups/tribes.

  • EVERY follower of Jesus has tough times (John 16:33). Being a person of faith does not exempt us from hardship and failure. Stay at the journey (Galatians 6:9) and ask for help if you need it.
